Control Methods for Levitation System of EMS-Type Maglev Vehicles: An Overview

As new advanced vehicles, electromagnetic suspension (EMS)-type maglev trains have received wide attention because of their advantages such as high speed, no mechanical friction, low noise, cost and energy consumption, strong climbing ability, green environmental protection. The open-loop instability is one the key points difficulties for levitation control systems trains. closed-loop feedback method must be applied to realize stable levitation. However, there are currently many methods just in theory. Considering disadvantages, it a major demand select efficient, stable, applicable, cost-saving improve dynamic performance safety, which motivated this review. First, current status research on introduced paper, including types, system components, modes various countries, followed by an analysis EMS-type Then, technical characteristics described according basic principles systems, model building, mathematical derivation, objectives. Next, three kinds typical reviewed, namely, linear state methods, nonlinear intelligent improvements applications. Lastly, we summarize evaluate disadvantages future developments suggested.
